Why is nutrition an important part of my surgery prep and recovery?

Nutrition plays a key role in the body's ability to recover. What you eat ends up fueling your body and builds a foundation for healing. Healing functions, such as tissue generation, wound healing, and the immune system are all influenced and supported by the nutrients we get through food. Certain foods can also have interactions with anesthesia or pain medications or can impact blood clotting and bleeding. Follow along with your daily program to find the right foods to eat for the stage you are at, and the foods you should avoid to help control the risk of surgical complications.
